Strange Ruins
Pre-collapse structures with their own logic. Recover lost technology — power systems, fabrication, communication — piece by piece.
The surface is empty, scarred and wind-bitten. Underneath, things still move. Ruins still hold their secrets. People still wake up, eat, work, and remember you.
Exploration is not a theme park. The world is harsh and uneven; rewards sit behind navigation, observation, and risk.
Pre-collapse structures with their own logic. Recover lost technology — power systems, fabrication, communication — piece by piece.
Salt flats, dead forests, ash fields, flooded tunnels. Each with its own resources, hazards, and inhabitants.
Secure and guard a safe pocket deep underground. Return to rest, store, and plan. If your guard fails, you lose it.
A mobile base that moves with you. Park near a resource vein and work from it, or roll out when trouble comes.
NPCs are not set dressing. They wake, work, eat, trade, and chase objectives using real resources from the world.
Schedules, needs, and tasks. Hunger, fatigue, purpose. They gather what they need from a finite world.
NPCs compete with you for food, materials, and safety. Helping them accomplish tasks earns favor.
Some NPCs can project a copy of themselves that joins you on adventures — a fragment, not a clone.
No faction gating, no fixed quest givers. Every NPC reacts to what you do. Push too far and the whole settlement turns.
Gain favor by helping. Favors unlock access, training, trade, and, occasionally, an echo.
Steal, attack, or break trust. Consequences propagate. You can always try to make amends — sometimes.
